For over three decades, Donald Abbot has been the force behind many of Bateleur Software’s most complex and successful engineering breakthroughs. An IBM mainframe software engineer by training and a systems innovator by instinct, Donald has built a career around turning intricate challenges into elegant solutions.

His technical journey spans platform migrations, database integrations, and the creation of enterprise-grade utilities now used by clients around the world. Among his notable achievements is the optimisation of an archiving process — reduced from 522 days to just 16 hours — a hallmark of his precision and ingenuity.

As CTO, Donald leads Bateleur’s research, product development and architecture strategy, ensuring the company’s technologies remain efficient, resilient, and future-ready. Colleagues describe him as an engineer who sees clarity where others see complexity — a
